Earnings from Stock Photography March 2012

I am very late uploading my usual graphs of earnings for March – I went off to England at the end of March and am only just back (with some more images to process and upload). March was a pretty good month – not my best, but only $15 below that peak. Shutterstock hit a new record of $508, and some of the other sites were fantastic – 123RF with $115 compared to a previous best of $67, and Fotolia with $106 compared to a previous best of $72. No one photo seems to have been popular – just a general rise of interest in my images. The month would have easily beaten previous months but for a disappointing showing from iStock – down to $212 compared to $270 in February. It is doing better this month, but it is always disappointing to see a falling back to previous levels. I joined a couple of new sites in the month, Pixmac and Superhug. Both are easy to upload to, can be added to Lightburner for easy FTP, but so far, nothing much in terms of sales. Pixmac is one of the partner sites for DepositPhotos, but by uploading direct I get better placement in the searches and a higher payout. I’ve sold 3 images so far (at $1 per image) but will have to wait to see if it is worthwhile.
